Ideal student

A confident, curious girl who will make the most of the opportunities around her. Blackheath tends to suit pupils who enjoy discussion, have a range of interests and respond well to a school that encourages girls to speak up and pursue their ambitions.

Main sports

Hockey, netball, football, athletics and cricket.

Stand-out facilities

Modern science laboratories, well-equipped music and drama spaces, and a dedicated sixth form centre with views across Canary Wharf. Most sport takes place at the school’s own sports ground at Kidbrooke Grove.

Saturday school

No.

Did you know?

Founded in 1880 and part of the GDST, Blackheath High combines historic buildings with significant recent investment in modern learning spaces. The school places a strong emphasis on enrichment through its “Girl emPowered” programme, which exposes pupils to areas such as finance, volunteering and leadership.

Our takeaway

Blackheath High is a confident girls’ school with a clear belief in the value of single-sex education. Academic results are strong and girls appear articulate and self-assured, supported by a wide co-curricular programme and GDST resources. It feels purposeful and ambitious, though still relatively local in character compared with some of London’s larger girls’ schools.

"Our interactive teaching style, collaborative environment and state-of-the-art facilities create a space where students can experiment with their interests and truly find their passions in life."
